Video #1 - Average is officially over

 Video #1

Watch this video from Thomas Friedman. He explains why in our new hyperconnected world, average is officially over.

Then, leave one connection between this video and what Cal Newport has offered us so far in So Good They Can't be Ignored. Be sure to reference key lines from both the video and the book.

Finally, leave personal feedback to at least two of your classmates' responses.

I have left a comment as an example.

  1. Mr. Reynolds:

Average is officially over relates closely to what we have read so far in Rule #1 in SGTCIY. First, this is important because Friedman stresses the important of skills that will allow you to flourish beyond simply being average.

Newport writes - “In the movies there’s this idea that you should just go for your dream,” Glass tells them. “But I don’t believe that. Things happen in stages.”

This relates to what Friedman says because each of the innovations that happened to make 'average' officially 'over' force workers to adapt and improve upon their existing skills and to improve them.
